Summer works

Some 3d modeling and sculpting from summer term. Pulled lots of all-nighters this term...

Maya models from Advance advance modeling class (yes, that is the actual name of the class).
We also did a speed model every week, but they're unfinished so I might go back and finish/render them later.

Still a WIP...some areas need improvements and I also want to add the seams.

Need to re-render later cause his front legs are floating...

Character model based on a character designed by Maxime Mary. Still need to fix the left shoulders.

Colored version

Final project assigned by my instructor based on our modeling weaknesses. Original concept by HR Giger.

ZBRUSH sculpts
Took a zbrush class this term and it was ....intense. Since im a total noob at zbrush, it took waaaay more time that I'd expected to finish one sculpt. Ignore the horrible render qualities, they're more like screen shots...

Original concept was taken from cgsociety's "lunch break crunch" thread.

Didn't get to finish this one hence some of the badly done details.

Final project was to sculpt a disney starwars big fig.

Last term's stuff

Some 3d and 2d stuff from last term's advance modeling and illustration class.

Alphabet theme design.  Mine was 'strange circus'.

Illustrating a song/melody. Mine was Keep Going by Standing Egg.

So we all hung our pieces on the wall while our instructor played our songs randomly, the idea was to match the song to each piece by the mood and feelings conveyed through the piece.

Final project was to design a snowboard for Burton's. These were my three sketches. The last one wasn't finished.

Final  design and palette.

Minimalist movie poster. We had a few movie options; Kill Bill, Jurassic Park, Toy Story..and a few others (can't remember).

Fixed the bottom of the torso model a bit...

Friend and I had to model each other's head for class. This was a totally last minute project for me. Pulled an all nighter and miraculously even managed to model his glasses and hat.

Wireframes

Original character/concept designs for my final modeling project! Such a fun project.

The story of Pinocchio, Gramps, and the whale...

Modeled and texture in Maya :D

Portland bus people!

I've been really into drawing people on the bus because Portland has such interesting and unique people!! Now whenever im on the bus I would see people I feel like i HAVE to draw.  Do I feel awkward drawing people in public? Nope the trick is to have a tiny sketchbook and not make it obvious that you're drawing them (usually several glances are enough).

The first few are the oldest ones.

Lots more to come!! :D!!

Modooools!

Here are some models I've done so far this term for my advance modeling class!! I'm still fixing these from critiques I received in class...

Second project was to model a torso with accurate anatomy. Definitely the hardest project of the class.

<-- This render might look too dark  because the monitors at school are super bright so I had to darken it by 50%. Also im aware that the bottom of the torso looks funny (like little feets!) cause I tried to make an artsy cut line but it wasn't working after I rendered it. Gonna fix it later.

Maintaining polyflow that makes sense...wrecked my brains out trying to get this working. Also u can see the cut line at the bottom here.

First project of the term! We had a reference for this little guy called Zombean. I was looking at the wrong reference so my proportions came out all wrong... I still like him though!

Concept sketches for illustration class. Project was to use flat simple shapes to define a location. Express the feeling of the location with use of values and shapes.

Saw this girl smoking and talking on her phone with hood and sunglasses on while I was wandering around school area for location shots. It was totally a moment I had to capture. This sketch is a bit Tadahiro inspired.
I ended up taking this to a finish stage. I liked the first design better but it seemed too generic. Not sure if I liked this piece that much...
